Finding Affordable Vertical File Cabinets

Most of the file cabinets that you see in work areas or offices are vertical file cabinets. Their shape makes them effective organization tools and they save a good amount of space. If you have a great deal of documents and files to store, there are some models that can have up to five drawers to utilize. Both two and five drawer models are readily available at any office supply retailer, with three and four drawer models being less common.

When most think of filing cabinets in general, they automatically think about the vertical style. And why not? It is the only style that saves space and is useful in home and business work areas, and they are the easiest to find files in as well. However, even among these kinds of file cabinets there are variations and some things to look out for. There are more secure models, lighter models, and even mobile models. Whatever your work space is, there is a file cabinet out there for you.

You may be surprised to hear this, but there are file cabinets that are 100% fire resistant, and even those with detailed security systems. These kinds are great if you are in a high-risk area or if you are just worried about the integrity of your important documents. Better safe than sorry. These are mostly for commercial usage, especially the fire proof units. Fire proof vertical units can weigh upwards of 700 lb so they really are not viable for home usage.

A lighter model would be made of thin steel, which would be good if you are looking on a budget. Steel vertical file cabinets are also very common in offices, and they come in any drawer amount you can think of. The downside to these is that they can get dented fairly easily, but damage happens to all office furniture at one point or another.

Mobile models are usually steel ones on wheels. These tend to be very light on their own, and the best ones come with wheels that can rotate a full 360 degrees to make transport easier. Offices that are very dynamic with their management style or simply ones that need to transfer files often from one area to the other will have lots of uses for portable file cabinets. There are also some units on the market which have a handle, but they are not especially common.

Any office needs vertical file cabinets, there is no real debate or contest over this. While computers can hold out data these days, there are just some things that need to be kept in paper form. As long as businesses and offices keep working with large amounts of paper, they will still need file cabinets.

Having difficulty getting your office organized? Consider using vertical file cabinets to get your files all in order and make organization easy.
